Second Generation Management

Mer-Mar was founded in 1974 by John Merell, Sr. after a distinguished career in the US Air Force. Several years later, Chet Menkes joined the company to manage the sales function. Chet was previously a founder of East Coast based Quindar Electronics (now QEI), which grew from a self funded start up to a publicly held, international corporation.

John and Chet retired in early 2005, and Mer-Mar is now owned and managed by John Merell, Jr., and Jeff Menkes. John Merell, Jr., has been working at Mer-Mar for 25 years, most recently as Director of Operations. John has a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting from Cal State San Bernadino. John is responsible for Manufacturing, Finance, and Quality Assurance. Jeff has been managing the sales of software and hardware for the design of integrated circuits for 20 years, most recently as VP of Worldwide Sales for a subsidiary of DuPont Photomasks. Jeff has a BA in Business Administration and an MBA from Pepperdine University. Jeff is responsible for Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service.
